INTRODUCTORY NOTES ON SOCIAL ISOLATION, SOCIAL DISTANCING AND SOCIAL DISTANCING

Abstract

This article addresses the concepts of social isolation, social distance and social distance, which have been used as synonyms during the State of Emergency, enacted in the country due to covid-19. The aim of the investigation is to reflect on the same concepts in order to distinguish them from each other. It is an investigation based on bibliographic research. Social isolation, social distance and social distance are completely different concepts, so they should not be confused with each other. The covid-19 pandemic whose first cases arose in China, caused dread worldwide. In view of this situation, States were obliged to apply containment measures to prevent the spread of covid-19. These measures include social isolation, social distance and quarantine. Although they are essential procedures for the control of this pandemic, they have not been easily accepted by the population.
