OS DESAFIOS DA PARENTALIDADE NUMA SOCIEDADE EM MUDANÇA: UMA NOVA SÍNDROMA - BURNOUT PARENTAL

Resumo

Investigações realizadas em mais de 40 países de vários continentes evidenciaram a existência de uma nova síndrome: o Burnout Parental. A partir de uma revisão narrativa da literatura, apresentam-se os principais resultados destas investigações relativamente às características desta síndrome e às suas causas e consequências para os pais e para seus filhos. Uma breve análise efectuada sobre as mudanças recentes na sociedade angolana, em termos de exigências quanto à educação das crianças e jovens e à adaptação das famílias a novas estruturas familiares, evidencia um aumento dos factores de risco de manifestação de Burnout Parental. Apesar de não existirem dados empíricos em Angola, a presença desta síndrome em diversos países da África subsaariana e os resultados desta análise reforçam a necessidade de a investigar também na sociedade angolana, proporcionando assim aos profissionais de saúde mental meios para a sua identificação e para a avaliação do seu impacto. Com efeito, a realização de intervenções focalizadas nesta síndrome, quer em termos curativos, quer em termos preventivos, poderá ser necessária, em Angola, num futuro mais ou menos próximo.
