THE ROLE OF DONDI'S MISSION IN THE FORMATION OF MORAL AND CIVIC VALUES IN THE POPULATION OF THE CITY OF HUAMBO: EXPLORATORY STUDY OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF CACHIUNGO

Abstract

The Evangelical Mission of Dôndi is a religious institution that participated during the colonial period in the formation of several intellectuals at the national level, whose historical legacy today is reserved for a local rather than an international dimension. The general objective of this scientific article is to understand the role of the Dôndi Mission in the formation of moral and civic values in the population of the city of Huambo. The problem identified is the poor dissemination of the achievements that the Evangelical Mission of Dôndi had in the process of forming the intellectual layer that stands out at the level of the Angolan State. This time, we seek to present the concepts of historical heritage, identity, memory, as elements that symbolize the feeling of belonging. It is an exploratory historical research with a qualitative approach, through the bibliographic review of literary works that relate to the theme, in order to obtain a clarification on the research problem raised, which implied the use of methods of theoretical and empirical level such as: historical-logical method, bibliographic collection, interview with semi-structured open questions of a non-probabilistic nature. The Mission of Dôndi, in short, served as an influencing instrument and source of knowledge for the formation of cadres. With the completion of this study, we want to promote the legacy of the Evangelical Mission of Dôndi to dignify its value and restore its historical memory.
