Environmental Education Program for producers of the Agricultural Productive Pole of Pinar del Río, Cuba.

Abstract

This work was developed at the “Hermanos Barcón” Productive Pole, belonging to the Pinar del Río Tobacco Collection and Processing Company, in the period between 2019-2020. The problem to be studied is stated in How to achieve, through the environmental education of rural producers, responsible behaviors with the environment are adopted in the areas of the Hermanos Barcón de Pinar del Río Agricultural Productive Pole? To solve the problem stated, the following objective is defined: Implement an Environmental Education program for the producers of the “Hermanos Balcón” Agricultural Productive Pole of Pinar del Río, which allows a greater capacity to face Climate Change in order to obtain productions sustainable agriculture. The methodology used was based on the identification of the real and potential impacts generated by agricultural production at the farm level, determining the negative effects of the agricultural production process on the environment, through surveys, field observations and the characterization of production processes. The main results show that there are effects on the environment related to the management of soil and water, the effects on biodiversity and the rural landscape, which show a lack of environmental culture. The implemented Environmental Education program achieves an increase in the environmental culture of peasants and agricultural producers through training that fills the existing gaps in knowledge in relation to the perception of the risks and dangers of climate change
