Abstract

This article – Proposal for the Implementation of the Portuguese Language Chair in the Teaching Course in Police Education, at the Police Academy, Comandante Santana André Pitra "Petroff" – addresses situations related to the importance of the Portuguese Language (LP) in police education institutions. The main objective is to propose its implementation as a curricular unit in the Teaching Course in Police Education (CDEP), at the Police Academy (ACADEPOL), Commander Santana André Pitra "Petroff". Methodologically, we used a quantitative study, essentially based on bibliographical and documentary research, whose processing for data collection was possible through a questionnaire survey submitted to the institution's management members and respective teachers, having found that the grid of chairs that make up the curricular plan of this course does not include the LP chair which, in different educational institutions, generally appears to be transversal and necessary for learning and mastering other curricular subjects. Through the questionnaire survey, we were able to infer that the preparation of the curricular plan was not consensual, as some respondents (board members and teachers) were unaware of the non-existence of the subject in the aforementioned curricular plan. However, respondents recognize its importance and recommend its implementation.
